Hello, I have a Carr Rambler for home use and play at volumes not loud enough for the amp to be breaking up on it's own. Does anyone have a recommendation for a OD/Distortion pedal to get the good 70s classic rock tones such as Marshall Plexi etc. I have a McCarty with Antiquity pickups.

I am considering a COT 50 Gold, or a Zvex Box of Rock so far but others are welcome for recommendation.

    Thank you

Menatone King of the Britains (new version). In the 'Plexi'-camp, great boost and an overall good sounding pedal. Used mine with a Strat and PRS Custom 22. Compared to the Box of Rock I liked the KOTB better (had both).

Carl Martin Plexitone. It simply kills.
    Through british-styled amps, it's amazing! Especially through a 1974X.

I know they're not well respected around these parts, but my main drive (whether through tube or SS amps) is the Marshall Guv'nor 2. It's respectable through a SS amp, and through the clean channel of a tube amp it is VERY convincing for classic rock drive.

MI Audio Crunch Box! Best $140 pedal around, IMO. It's fun and it sustains for days. Pedals I own, ZD, OCD, BoR, BM, BBUEQ.

I just got a BB+ and I'm really liking it. I had the same situation as you and it really did the trick!

Thanks for the recommendations. I was not aware of the BB+ and had to Google it. It seems like a contender as is the Crunch Box. Any others please let me know.

What about the CMATMODS Brownie? From what I've read, its tone kills the Crunchbox. Mine is being assembled as you read this.
