Hello TGP. I need some of you OD experts to chime in and help steer me in the right direction. I’m looking for an overdrive to help provide medium gain, preferably a crunchyish gain that will work well in front of a Fender Twin style as well as a Marshall. Subsequently, I was hoping that this pedal could potentially do double duty and provide good gain for a clean channel as well as a to boost a overdriven channel (for ex if Im on clean channel and I hit, it could serve as a first od... but if I were playing on my dirt channel I could hit same pedal perhaps and it give me a boost/od

That was my first instinct but wondering what else may be lurking. I currently use a Naga viper in front of my driven Marshall channel and it works great but do you think something like the barber able to achieve a similar effect

Seems if you want it to be working well with those two very different amps you’ll want something that’s pretty transparent or, better yet, has an effective mids control in addition to the standard tone controls. There’s a lot out there.

I'm quite impressed with the Secret Freq. Never even heard of it and just picked one up. It has THE crunch I've been looking for for years. Works good on clean channel but really kills on dirty channel almost cocked wah classic midrange.

LOL it's a question about overdrives! While it's not a bad question, it's hardly the stuff that demands the the most esoteric answers! OCD works perfectly for this. So would a Timmy, another one that people get oddly apologetic for these days.

The non-mosfet is pretty awesome with several amps I’ve tried it with too.

Did you try a TS or a SD-1? I like the Bad Monkey too: the bass knob is very useful when you change amp or go for different applications (boost or main drive etc...).

EH Soul Food is really nice. For a boost, you really can't beat the ole tried and true TS808.
