Another thread had me curious what the numbers will say. Strat vs Les Paul.
Which do you prefer. Not which is better or more iconic or more popular.
And i know some you will become incensed at the suggestion that you have to play such common man's instrument and that the only guitars worth owning now are handmade in some inuit man's garage with pickups potted in sustainably acquired whale blubber.. but let's say just for fun that you had to choose a strat or a les paul.

Of course I like them both, but if I had to choose only one, it would be an LP. I prefer how they feel, and I prefer how they sound in most cases. I also vastly prefer how they look, although that wasn't a factor in my choice.

    Strat, no contest.
I can still get a great sound, without having to deal with the ergonomic/weight issues that plague LPs.

I don't like bling, carved tops, fancy timber or heavy, plus I like the modular "industrial"design of the strat. However, a simple black or plain timber LP Special would win on looks

Strat if I'm building it. Les Paul if I have to buy an off the rack mass produced guitar.

    Where's the Tele option?

    .

Strat because of the mis-marketing those LP guys have been doing...

But really, a Tele is probably the 'single guitar' choice for me, but not a traditional Tele:

Esquire Tele H with a 4-way switch running both bobbins.

I voted for Les Paul over Strat mainly because I really don't like 3 pick up guitars - it's 1 more complicated than is really necessary.

That said, I really am more of a single coil guy these days; I would choose my Tele over both. ( or maybe my Jazzmaster )

Body shape? Strat, more comfortable to me.... I prefer humbucker most of the time so I choose to play the Super Strat. For the poll I picked strat.

And i can certainly see the need for teles and 335s in a poll but i just decided to keep it simple. Looks like the ole stratocaster is in the lead so far.
