...got invited to a neighbor's wife's 50th Bday bash...rented a hall, wants to have a jam, and sheepishly says he's not sure what he's gonna do for gear...he's been to my house and saw my gear...PA, drum kit, keys, amps...he's brought up his gear dilemma several times, doesn't know what he's gonna do for amps,etc...

Former weekend musician, now doing the DJ thing, says he's turning work away...so whaddya need me for?

Thankfully, I've recently been cured from loaning gear, and no offer to use my gear was made.

I would figure at some point when he realizes his hints aren't landing, he will ask you point blank. You may want to have handy the name of a music store that does rentals.

It's his birthday, for gods sake. If you're not booked, offer to set up the stage, run the pa and have a good time. Stop thinking like a hessian for a minute.

Understand where you are coming from but helping out a neighbor is probably a good thing for everyone.

Sure, help him out by offering to carry some of his rented gear from his van to the hall.

What the heck is a hessian??
