I've been struck by how many listen to the same artists even though they haven't made any new music in years if not decades. Nothing wrong with that. Rather than focusing on older music like many threads here do, I thought we could celebrate older musicians who are still cranking out new material.

Here's a couple of my favorites who are as prolific as they come. Scofield (68) just came out with #44.

For fans of the singer/songwriter types, Bruce Cockburn (75) has 33 albums out and just released one last year.

Swans are still making music that is challenging to me, after nearly forty years of delirious noise making.

I haven’t really enjoyed the albums, but I am amazed that McCartney cranks out as much new material as he does.

Buddy Guy, literally an old Guy!

And some old guys complain that he doesn't sound like he used to. If you can accomplish that as an old guy you're doing something right.

    A great thread idea.

Beano, Darkstar, Eruption, Purple Haze, Dazed and Confused and Whipping Post. You can love them all, but let some sunlight shine on others.

because the older artists won many of us over a long time ago. so their new stuff may not be hits......it's still them and "they won us over years ago". the younger crowds are picking up on them. floyd, the blues......not just bonamassa and company currently.......zep, heck cheap trick still draws crowds to shows..........hendrix of course. sure i listen to some skynyrd, santana, allman's, hendrix, the kinks, the who, journey, beatles, ccr, cars.........anyone up for some golden earring. then you have the metal crowd, country crowd........they have their favorites and stick with them. they'll listen to newer, some may keep up with that, and/or go right back to what they listen to and play themselves for the past 25 yrs or so. not just old guys, but the old crowd of musicians from how many decades back have that staying power of theirs. that's something not all artists will ever have......that's what separates them and makes them who they are :munch

Wayne Krantz is 63(ish) and he’s as fresh and frightening as anyone. Arguably releasing his best music also.

Dave Holland, currently 73, has never sat still. Bitches Brew to Conference of the Birds to Not For Nothing and forward!

Here's the title piece from his next-to-recent disc, from 2019:

    I'm 58 and haven't had my first hit, wouldn't I qualify?

But I really don't have a 66 Super Reverb, 58 Les Paul, 59 Les Paul etc.
