I thought The Uplift Mofo Party Plan was pretty cool especially "special secret song inside"

Old chili's are the best chili's.. everything after one hot minute is painful for me to listen to.
The first four albums are amazing, and BSSM is their cornerstone of work, they will never be able to capture what they did on that album again. The new stuff just makes me sad.. :-(
But now it's time to go listen to some 'old' Jane's Addiction.. ;-)

I got Uplift Mofo when it came out, loved it, and then went out and got Freaky Styley...Catholic School Girls Rule, Behind the Sun, Brothers Cup...yeah, love that early rawness. I liked their stuff through One Hot Minute (I enjoyed what Navarro brought to the table). Not really into anything they've done since.

Freaky Styley is still my all time fave.

+1

yep, Blackeyed Blonde, Brothers Cup, Nevermind, Yertle The Turtle, Hollywood..... George Clinton and the Horny Horns. it can't be beat!!

I miss the Hillel era. he was their best guitarist. others may have expanded on his vision, but he was numero uno.

Is it possible to like RHCP, and NOT like Flea and Kiedis?

I'm an (obviously) very casual fan in that I've always liked the guitar players and drummers in that band, but never really got into them that much...

You went way back!! For some reason, Blood Sugar.... has always been one of my favorite albums more so than the other stuff. I actually looked for my cd of it a few weeks back and it appears I lost it.... I'll have to get another.

How about "True Men Don't KIll Coyotes?"

Around the same time that the Beastie Boys had a huge college hit with "Cookie Puss" - which no one seems to remember...

I love them up to Blood Sugar Sex magic. Nothing after that.

Have you given Stadium Arcadium a good listen? I've been a fan of RHCP since the Freaky Styley and Uplift Mofo days. I've seen them live several times, including in small venues early on and I really like Stadium Arcadium.

It's for sure not the same thing as Uplift Mofo or BSSM, but to me it's a logical progression for a really cool band getting older and still being really cool. Even I'm With You is pretty good. YMMV, of course!

Yes, my fav are still the songs with Hillel, and John's earlier work. I like the newer music too, though not as much - probably due more to a time/place/age/change thing for me, rather than the newer music itself.
