But glittering prizes and endless compromises
    Shatter the illusion of integrity.

the words of the prophets were written on the studio wall,
    Concert hall
And echoes with the sounds of salesmen. Of salesmen. Of salesmen.

This came up on my iPod while I was out this morning, and I said to my wife, "I can't think of a band apart from Rush that could possibly use the 'one likes' construction in a rock song." =) Those crazy Canadians!

At some point between Hemispheres and Moving Pictures Neil Peart's lyrics went from pretty cheesy to absolutely awesome.

    Not so sure about that:

When they turn the pages of history
When these days have passed long ago
Will they read of us with sadness
For the seeds that we let grow
    We turned our gaze
From the castles in the distance
    Eyes cast down
On the path of least resistance

    Cities full of hatred
    Fear and lies
    Withered hearts
    And cruel tormented eyes
    Scheming demons
    Dressed in kingly guise
    Beating down the multitude
    And scoffing at the wise
