Find your tubes on Reverb from Chicago Music Exchange and make sure they are APEX tested and then make an offer. I usually get 15 percent off their asking price.

He has some good stuff. The first time I ordered from him was 20 years ago because old. Before that, it was Antique Electronic Supply.

I have had excellent results for new tubes at Tube Depot and Doug's Tubes. For NOS, I have had excellent results from Mike at KCA (great cat, great customer service) and Jim Cross at vacuumtubesinc.com (great cat, extremely reasonable pricing, excellent service, tons of knowledge). Also, our TGP brother PerryR sells ANOS and NOS tubes from time to time here and/or on Reverb - extensive knowledge, excellent testing, honest as can be and has a killer stash of old glass. As with Mike K. and Jim Cross, Perry has been a highly trustworthy source for premium old glass for me (he also supplies Dr. Z with NOS Russian military 6n14n power tubes for Z's Maz and Z Wreck amps).

Oh wow, this is nice. I will say I've had very good luck with ANOS tubes. I care more about the tube than the box and silk screening. It's a great way to have some vintage glass without going broke. I'll leave the NOS Telefunken's to the audiophiles who don't have a problem paying $500 for a 1 meter "interconnect" or stereo RCA Cable.

Now all we need is a sticky for an "identify my old tube" thread.

    Have people used https://nesstone.com/ ?

Are they legit? Worth adding to the sticky? Prices seems pretty good.

They look legit, and definitely have some nice power tube offerings. I don't know of many other dealers still able to offer winged C SED 6l6GC power tubes.

Assuming the powertubes can be tailored to ‘styles’ in such a fashion.

There are some differences but it’s not like using a tungsol EL34 will suddenly allow your hiwatt to do the broootalz

I would assume the "Tubetown" tubes are just rebrands, so it makes it really hard to judge the effectiveness of that chart.

I recently purchased some new tubes from Viva Tubes and was very pleased. I was looking for single Psvane preamp tubes, and it is hard to rely on sellers to deliver you the real thing and the correct grade, but Viva Tubes did so and I'm very pleased. I have also had good results with Dug's Tubes for other stuff. Other than that, I'm growing discouraged with NOS because I've gotten lackluster, short-lived tubes from a number of well-known sellers. I don't think they were moving bad stuff -- I think the tubes themselves are probably just not terrific or durable after all these years. I'm eager to see how the Psvanes hold up. They sound remarkably good in my amp.

Psvane tubes are small production from the Hengyang factory, right?

The NOS tubes left now are a lot of the ones that are not the highly desirable audio tubes. There are lots of Joint Army Navy (JAN) tubes that were made to military specifications, which often did not really have the sound quality and microphonics as determining factors. Many dealers who do have them recommend not using them in V1 spots.

I may need to try out some of the smaller production vacuum tubes, though many end up being specialized manufacture, more geared towards the hi-fi world, where people pay $500 for a 3 foot long "interconnect" (Stereo RCA Cable). Most guitar gear heads aren't willing to spend that kind of money on anything but old-production US and European tubes.

Desirability is in the ear of the beholder. Lots of player like, and seek out, JAN tubes.

If proper testing deems them appropriate for V1 then there's no problem. There are specimens of every type and brand that are ok in V1 and some that are not. I list them as such on my website.
There's nothing distinctly different about JAN tubes versus commercial tubes other than being able to meet extra durability requirements. As always, each brand and type stands on its own merits and generalizations are useless.
