Say that you could only carry 1 OD pedal.

Something that covers lo/med/hi gain if necessary. One or two channel but simply one unit.

Plays well with Strats and LPs and ESPECIALLY well with EL-84 amps.

So, what's your #1 go to?

my #1 would be my Xotic AC-plus, set so that i got a nice low gain fat sound in channel B,a nice medium high gain setting on Channel A and together u get a nice vintage rock tone

I am only carrying one od! The BB preamp is the one that does it for me. It works really well with el84 amps in my oppinion(the eq is really great for getting rid of some of the high end when doing higain stuff with single coils). covers med-hi gain and great clean boosting aswell. it´s pretty compressed and smooth sounding so if you´re looking for something more "open sounding" look elsewere.

Ive played a few but not a ton of OD's. This pedal is so versitile. It is less compressed than the regular DD but it still perfect for solo leads. its great for chord work with excellent chord/note articulation. Vol knob responsive.

I lost it recently and bought another on the emporium as fast i could.

    Some possibuilities:

    Proco Rat - or clone
    Barber Direct Drive
Timmy - Won't get ya high gain, but with gain cranked, it gets real dirty.

If I'm giggin with only one, it's timmy.

I'm STILL digging my Jetter Red. For me not a bad sound anywhere on the gain knob.

My main OD is a Death by Audio Interstellar Overdriver, so if I could use my amp (El 84's) I'd go with that.

Probably a Silver Kiss if I wasn't using mine

IndyGuitarist (Wampler) Pinnacle.....does low, med, and high gains really well. Very smooth sounding distortion, and with the added boost switch for solos, can cover all the bases for me.

Right now, I'm seriously digging the Ethos TLE......

I don't think everyone is getting the "plays well with EL84's" part, as TS styles, and their offspring are not always the best bet.

For most other amps, a FD2 is hard to beat, too.

Skreddy Screwdriver. I've put it up against alot of other pedals and it always sounds better to my ears. It's been on my board longer than any other pedal I've owned.

Right now the Landgraff DO, but I've recently got a MP Sky Blue Overdrive which I'm familiarizing myself with and it seems to be a contender for that spot..

I'll go with the Gaspedal Dumbbell. Not super high gain, but a great little two stage OD.

Before I got the Dumbbell, my white Eternity was the #1 go to OD.
