Open B-string is doing a sitar thing on a new strat. Problem with the nut slot?

This (otherwise excellent) new strat Pro I've bought is doing this thing when the open B-string is played, where it sort of tenuates or something, giving it a very slight sitar-like sound. It's only when the string is played open, and not when it's fretted, which sounds normal. This leads me to suspect there's something with the nut slot for that string, though I don't see what with a visual inspection.

Is there anything that can cause this?

If you play the same B note on the G string is there any sympathetic ringing?

Just some little burr in the slot probably.
Wiggle the string around in the slot, scrape at it with your thumbnail, worry it for 10 seconds, if it doesn’t go away take it to anybody with a tool or a piece of sandpaper.
