I am looking to get some modulation in my setup that can do slow sweeps and a pretty shimmering sound and the flanger hoax looks like a nice all in one pedal, does anyone have any experience with it, is there pedals that are better for this, or would it be better to buy a flange and a phaser seperate? and which ones for a nice ambient sound?

Is that one similar to the Urban Myth Flanger?

i don't know i have never heard of it, the flanger hoax is kinda newer by EHX, it looks really cool, like it has lots of flange settings and it combines a phaser into it as well with alot of controls for that as well, and it sounded neat in the demo video, but i don't know anywhere where i could demo one and was just curious if it dampened the signal and whether it actually sounded good in a setup and if it sub for buying a flange and phaser seperate.

I found it to sound a bit tinny & it seemed very cheaply made, but a lot of the EH products have that feel.

The flanger hoax is poorly documented, and very complex. It is hard to dial in normal flanger sounds. I prefer the EHX Electric Mistress, A/DA and MXR flangers

I tried the Boss PH-3 in a store yesterday & thought it sounded very good.

I fooled with the hoax for hours, and I love to tweak sounds, but it really was hard to get anything like a traditional sound out of it. It is good for chirps and other random noise bits but not much else. I sold it.

If you do get it, keep copious notes on settings...everyone says a Mesa takes a while to dial in, but it is nothing compared to this pedal.
