I Know there are a few Axe users out there using a power amp and 4x12 speaker cab for a stage monitor going through the FxLoop/Output 2 option to bypass the Cabinet Sims. What I am wondering is; How to optimize the sound? Any advice?

Use the Out2 EQ in the Global menu.

By taking the output from the FxLoop ahead of the Cab block, that does two things. It bypasses the Cab Sims and also bypasses the Global EQ in the the Output 2 page. I do realize that the issue comes down to mostly EQ and I was hoping to hear some sucess stories from users with more experience than me.

Use of the Eff.block (= Output 2) doesn't (shouldn't) bypass the Out2 Global EQ at all. This use is the very reason why there is a Global EQ for Out2. Are you sure?

Yes, it is stated in the manual. I could however drop the FXLOOP bock down one row and insert an EQ block ahead of it.

Can you point where exactly in the manual? I searched but I can't find it.

Edit: I just tested it. I ran a line from AMP to FXL (next row). FXL is not connected to the output. I now have a signal coming from Output2/Eff.Send, without cab.sim of course. And adjusting the Out2 global EQ certainly affects the tone.

Could you also put a Graphic EQ block and/or PEQ block in there somewhere so it's only used for the FXloop out to your 4x12 rig?

An EQ block would be the answer, at least that is my guess. The next part is trying to determine with your ears how to set the frequency curve in the grafic EQ.

I run a guitar cab off of the FX loop send (output 2) and don't do any EQing at all to it...I do run direct to FOH though and use a PEQ after the 'cab' block.

In my experience it's been much easier to get good tones going to a guitar cab than it is running direct.
