Original Fuzz?

I like fuzz boxes, however I don't like the idea of spending lots of $ in pedals that sound like everyone else. Seems like every new fuzz pedal is a Fuzz Face or Big Muff clone or a self oscillating noise machine.

Vote for your favorite original fuzz. A pedal with potential to become a new classic.

I used to have a Fuzz Factory (Vexter), and for what I recall it just sounded useful in its "fuzz face" setting. I didn't like the velcro sound from it (way better on other pedals), was a little noisy, and the oscillation was way too difficult to control.

However, I do think it's definitely a new classic and a brave new design.

Never heard of the Trombetta Mini Bone before, but I'm watching Youtube demos right know, and I must admit it has a really unique sound, like (dare I say) clean fuzz? Sounds a little like Devi Ever's Year of the rat. Cool.

Agreed on the Bone. Whether Mini or Bone Machine. Get one, and you won't be sorry. Mine's so awesome that it's now taken over primary fuzz duty on my board. I've also got a MidFi clari(not) that's mindblowingly awesome... It's a weird fuzz/delay/vibrato thing... Super fun. The later ones don't have the built-in fuzz. Shame, because it's one of the best fuzz tones I've ever heard. Like a really good, more articulate Fuzz Face that's about to explode...

And I'd check out at Basic Audio's line of pedals, some of the pedals are inspired by other known pedals, but I think they're all their own thing. I particularly like the Spooky Tooth, Gnarly and Zippy.

Analogman AstroTone is my current most used, and most original fuzz. It's like nothing else I've ever tried

Of the Fuzzface side of fuzz, my choice would be the difficult to acquire, KR Gypsy Fuzz. Amazing for Hendrix, to blues.

Modern classic: definitely the Pharaoh, what a tour de force of versatility - I kind of negates me needing other fuzzes (although GAS makes me try others!)

Um, it is a clone of the Astrotone.

i really like my hoof...oops, russian muff hybrid.

umm...my fuzz factory? oops, treble booster into fuzzface.

err...my old pharaoh? nope, tricked-out muff.

my old musket? nope, another tricked-out russian muff.

my fuzzhugger ab-synth? two bazz fusses in series.

dammit OP, why'd you have to imply that i sound like everyone else because i use pedals which are based on clones of classic circuits :( i would think think that my playing would differentiate me from everyone else.

and ironically enough, if a new fuzz design is so good it becomes a classic, it will be cloned and modified. therefore taking you back to square one. you hipster, you.

Don't worry about being 100% original, worry about being good first. Now back to teh fuzz of the month...

I think the MOST unique fuzz circuit is the Lovetone Big Cheese, which I will likely get a clone of soon

I recently purchased a Mad Professor Fire Red Fuzz. Not sure what it is based on, if anything, but it is a great sounding versatile fuzz.
