Oteil will contribute something good no matter where he goes, be it other bands, family or both. The guy's just a POWERFUL, POSITIVE FORCE OF NATURE.

Not surprised at all that he is leaving with zero hard feelings. Both Oteil and the members of TTB should feel blessed for the good work they've produced.

See if you can find some clips of Vida Blue, live if you really want to hear him stretch out. I have a bootleg DVD that a friend gave me that has some choice spots really highlighting his playing. It's a band with Russell Batiste on drums and Page McConnell on keys . A few vocals here and there, but definitely not a vocal centric project. I don't think of it as fusion, but there's elements along with more atmospheric groove heavy playing and I know you appreciate good grooves Joseph!

Saw the TTB last spring & Oteil was the highlight of an all around stellar show. As well as being one the finest electric bassists on the planet he is a blast to watch. I have never seen anyone have more fun playing music.
Wherever he goes from here there will be some lucky musicians as his new associates.
