Out of all the amps you've owned and played though, what was the BEST overall amp

    Hmmm...

    They each have their charms:

The Metroplex is the perfect gigging amp for me. It sounds like a great old Marshall, but has the flexibility of choosing the different modes, a very effective master, the boost for pushing my solos out front, and a great effects loop.

The Marshall Super is a classic. It just has THAT sound. It was hacked up when I got it, so I didn't feel too bad about adding a PPIMV and a Metro zero-loss effects loop.

The JCM 800 2204 is another classic. Crank it up and it is the very definition of rock and roll. This one had already been modded with a tube-buffered effects loop when I got it.

So true. The early 90's mkIII is still my favorite amp to play.

Thanks for the heads up. Probably not the right time to buy right now, but I'll check it out.

After 40 plus years it’s hard to remember them all so I’ll go with my current #1 with is a ToneKing SkyKing, though my Carr Mercury gets a lot of use also. The Reinhardt 18 gets an honorable mention.

My Victor Custom Workshop Cerberus. The thing is so versatile and built like a tank. Runs 6L6 and EL34 together and independently. I don't know what I'd do without ever buying it. Victor Cerberus

Of those I’ve owned — and honestly it’s my favorite I’ve tried — my Oldfield Club D’Lux.

Of those I’ve tried and haven’t owned, the Dr. Z Maz Jr.

**** your fender cleans. **** your Marshall.

I’ve got a twin and the orange has better cleans. I’ve got a silver jubilee, and the orange has better mid-high gains.

    Also takes better than both.

Matchless HC-30 and Hiwatt dr103 are the current “best” I’ve played. And yes, still own both. Have owned the Hiwatt for a long while now.

So, this was in 2013. And it stayed true until November of 2019, when I got a Suhr PT100se. The best overall amp I’ve owned in 40+ years of playing.
