Is there any TS style over drives that have that fuzzy germanium breakup? I know there is the maxon distortion sustainer (that has germ transistors) but anything else with more versatility?

I think the Skreddy Screwdriver has some fuzz-like qualities.

Me and a friend both thought so when I demoed the Caroline Wave Cannon. OD/Distortion tones with an edge of fuzziness.

+1. It's not like a ts pedal though.

Screwdriver is the best that I've tried so far for fuzzy overdrive.

As for something more like a TS (since the Screwdriver is not), how about the EWS Fuzzy Drive? I've never played one however. Just seems like it might be closer to a TS than say a Screwdriver.

Never heard anything that was like a TS Fuzz offspring, which is something I have tried to find. I might have to follow Monk's lead and take a listen to the EWS myself. I always wanted to run a Lunar and a TS in parallel. On that note, Cusack makes a pedal called the Fuzz Screamer, which is exactly a mix of the two, but he describes the fuzz as a broken op-amp sound, which leads me to suspect it is more like an op-amp muff, which is far from a Ge FF. I posted a thread asking if anyone knew anything about it and it didn't get a single reply.

EDIT - just looked at the EWS and it is described and tone-bender like, which is generally pretty midrangy, but sounds a lot thinner than a TS to me. It is also using an operational amplifier, so it may not sound like a Ge fuzz.?.

Heady-thanks, sorry missed your suggestion on the cusack & thanks for the additional info. Seems like a TS/fuzzface crossover is neglected in the over saturated pedal world.

I agree with the fuzz head. That pedal is not really a fuzz but also not really an overdrive and kind of does both.

Yea - I agree! With the gorgeous top and bottom of a Fuzz Face, I think a thick screamer would fill in the middle perfectly. I am a big Phish fan so I often do the 2 TS thing, but that in parallel with the Lunar Module sounds perfect to me.

EDIT - PS, I tried the Keeley, definitely does not do the high-gain fuzz thing IMO, but it was a cool pedal. I like the Screwdriver more. The Analogman Astrotone should be on this list too, even though it doesn't really do what the OP is looking for.
