Anyone tried both and what do you guys think? I need cleans as well as rock/ metal with style of music really being Korn, Linkin Park, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Limp Bizkit, Deftones down to indie clean stuff with reverbs and delays.

Will either of these cover the bases I require, or should I get one and something else on top!

Amp which arrives tomorrow is a Peavey 6534+

    Cheers in advance

I use the Cali Rec, stock cab and 4038 mic for most of the modern rock stuff I do.

Are you going to run the modeler through the 6534 and Cab, or other?

    More details needed.

It's gonna be 6534+ > Suhr Reactive Load > IRs. Cali Rec is HH 1 isn't it

I've got the Heavy Hitters 2 and I'd probably recommend the Core Tone pack instead. You get a Fender Deluxe, Vox AC30, Marshall 4x12, and Mesa 4x12. I'm also a really big fan of the Marshall 4x12 Basketweave "GNR" pack. Of all the Ownhammers I have to this point, I probably use the Fender Deluxe and AC30 along with that GNR Marshall the most.

You have a lot of options then. I've been happy with the Ownhammer IRs. More than others. There was another Mesa oversize cab IR I used a bunch. I think it was Godzcabs. It was free and really good. Used in Axe FX, and other modelers. Just had that low end growl and upper bite. Some others roll off the high end too much.

No, my reference was to Helix. Cali Rec (Mesa Rectifier model, Mesa cab model with 4038 mic).

Cheers for that I was actually looking at that as it seems to cover the bases I'm looking for 4 x 12 with a couple of cleaner varieties.

I agree with this, I have Heavy Hitters 1. As great as those IRs sound, I wish there was more variety in speakers and cabs. The Heavy Hitters packs are just littered with tons of IR of 4x12 cabs with V30s.

    Also littered with 4x12s with:

    • Eminence Governor
    • K-100
    • T75
    • Celestion EVH
    • Creamback 30
    • G12-80
    • Greenback 25
I could see the desire for a 2x12 in there to break up the cab structure, but there is a good amount of variety in speakers as is for heavy music.
