I recently acquired an old SG Special and am noticing a big difference in the way it handles
O.D. pedals....compared to the Fenders I usually play.
Along with favorite O.D. for your P-90's would you pls. mention the style of music
and amp used with any particular pedal.

I play a pair of P-90 Les Pauls and an ES-5. I HATE overdrive pedals, but if I must use one in a pinch, I like the Barber Gain Changer better than anything else I have used so far.

I've got an epiphone es-339 with a stock p90 in the neck and a stacked one in the bridge. I tend to keep a soul food on most of the time unless I'm doing cleans on the neck pup. I bought an ehx glove last night that served me well this morning at church, but haven't had much time to mess with it.

I play P-90 LPs and a few others as well. I'm primarily a classic rock, hard rock, and punk player. Also rockabilly and blues too. It really depends on the amp I'm plugging into but, a few ODs that have worked great with my P-90 guitars:

AM KOT
AM Beano Boost (treble booster - stellar!)
Frantone Hepcat
Lovepedal Eternity
EQD Tone Reaper (Bender style fuzz)
Spaceman Aphelion
Skreddy Screw Driver

I've got a 335 with P-90s that I play into a cranked Marshall. I'll boost the front end with either a Rat or a Klon. Both are awesome.

i was just about ready to give up on my bondi del mar-- with my tele it wasn't all that spectacular--, but once i plugged my newly acquired '56 lp special into it i was blown away; phenomenal combination. also wish i still had my klon since i've the feeling it would of sounded killer with the p90's into my amp- a vox/fender el84 hybrid.

My 90's love my KTR but back when I had a late 60's SG Special, that thing ate up my v4 OCD into my 2204. There was really something special about the p90's gibson put in their SGs back in the day.

I had Z90 pickups in my PRS. Hum sized single coils. My favourite OD was an RC Booster (Xotic). My amps are in my avatar and you can see the OD collection I have had. I have also owned a TS and an SD-1. Short answer though is an RC Booster from me.

My Casino into a cranked Vox sounds magnificent. As for OD pedals, my Casino likes the Suhr Shiba Drive.

I have a G&L Tribute ASAT Deluxe II that I retrofitted with GFS Mean 90s. Played it a while back with full band using the little One Control Strawberry Overdrive. Sounded great. My big board pedal setup includes an Archer, Southland, and Starlight. All seem to work well with P90s through my VHT Standard 18 (Marshall 1974 voiced).

Barber Compact Direct Drive

Love it with my P90 guitars, I have three.
But I also like it with my humbucker and single coil guitars.

Amps are two 18w marshall clones.

Tim and Skreddy Screwdriver + P90s are just so natural together.

Lumpy's ZII
yeah? what amp, what kind of settings?
I have one of those but never really played my old Hamer Special through it. I usually just go straight in - but
have a boost for solos.

I've been on a Strat kick lately, maybe I'll try that tonight!

I used to have a Casino and it love the Fulldrive. Also had a Jazzmaster and the Superbolt was it's best friend.

Over the years I have found myself drawn to germanium treble boosters with P90 guitars into cooking tube amps (AC30s, my old and missed Komet K60 and my Sniders). I think I play music with them. Some call it rock. Some call it jazz. For reference, my touchstone P90 sound is Hunter/Wagner. I can get that big authoritative sound with a Les Paul Jr and previously with a PRS McSoapy and a treble booster. Just be sure to use your tone control on the axe.

Does an EP Booster count? I guess it's not really an OD.

Traditional electric blues, Louis Electric Buster which is a tweed Deluxe roughly based amp.

Fender amps.
I particularly think the ZII sounds good with P90s for chordal playing.

For strats, I always go to a Blackstone. Don't really care for a ZII wtih a strat.
