I am having a guitar custom made with p90's and my choices for pickups have been wittled down to two. Fralins and Voodoos The voodoos sound real cool and gritty like a great 50's p90. the Fralins have a little smoother sound but they can still rip. so here it is help me chose which ones will be best for me. I play rock/blues/altcountry or americana what ever you want to call it. I mostly play altcountry (think Wilco or the Wallflowers)

Although I haven't played my Voodoos yet, I have PFs 59s in a McNaught, and it kills. IMO, PF seems to capture that 'vintage' vibe best. Expecting his P-90s will follow suit.

Thanks so much for the explaination. I can't wait to hear what your p90's sound like.

I had a set of tele pickups from PF and they were the most rockin tele pickups I had ever heard.

I voted Fralins as I have those in a guitar. But I've never tried the Voodoos.

I just put a set of Lindys in my Guild Blues-90 last night. I like them so far but haven't really played them much yet.
But they do have much less output and less mids than the stock Duncans.
I'll have to play them awhile.

    I have Fralin P-90's in a Tele:

10% overwound bridge, 5% underwound neck.

Love it to death, wouldn't even look at another set. These are the pickups for me. Gritty, raw, powerful when pushed... dynamically responsive, depending on your playing. They have an instantly-vintage vibe that I love, and they compliment my style (chunky rhythm and riffs) perfectly. I've had them for two years, and they're the best thing I've ever owned. This guitar is my best friend.

thanks for the replies. I will weigh my options carefully still.

I know there are some more of you out there that have these p90's, let me know what you think.

I have the Lollars in my CU 22 Soapy. They're very fine, but I think you'll be happy with either Voodoos or ralins.
