    Greetings all,

Does anyone know where I can find replacement knobs (7) for my Crate Palomino V32? These original brass knobs burn the heck out of my fingers after the amp is on for awhile. I would like to replace them with a plastic type that doesnt interfere with the boost, presence, etc. switches.

    Thanks!

I put a small fan blowing on the back of the amp when playing. Takes care of the heat issue and should help the tubes last longer. If you do a search you will see other Palomino owners do the same.

that's a good point, there isn't much space between the pots. Maybe I'll just stick with round knobs, but find something that has an usable indicator. Thanks rockon

    Folks,

There isn't much out there on knobs. I work in a machine shop, so I am going to try to make my own out of something in the shop. I will let you all know what I come up with and post pix of what I come up with.

One place I haven't looked is Stewart McDonalds web site.

Thanks for the fan tip. How would this be mounted/wired in the cabinet?

Very good indeed! I am thinking of swapping out V1 though, the overdrive can become a bit harsh. I have a MIM Fender Strat SSH and if you use pickup 1 then you get the piercing highs. I gues one could buy an EQ?

I "chicken headed" mine. Yes, the knobs are close, and the buttons can get covered, but I don't worry about changing the presence button, and the rest are on the footswitch. Much easier to see where you are, and cool looking to boot.

Where did you find chickenheads to fit the smaller shaft size? all I can find are 1/4 inch.

It's been a long time, but this is the page I had bookmarked. They are held on by setscrews.

I use white chicken heads on my V16 as well. I don't use the "boost" button anyway. These knobs would bump against it if I did. However, that boost circuitry is $#!- as far as I'm concerned. Heck I also use a 12AU7 in the pre-amp positition so I'm not worried about boosting anything anyway.
