I have sent my Les Paul to Pat and had him strip it so we could see what the top is like and then he is refinishing it for me. It was a black LP that was mostly original and has a long neck tenon. I love the feel of the guitar and plan to keep it for a long while. My paint thoughts started with having it made into a goldtop if the top was ugly. If the top was decent I planned for a burst or something. Here are pictures of the stripped body: IMG_3155 by hank57 posted Jul 24, 2019 at 11:17 AM IMG_3157 by hank57 posted Jul 24, 2019 at 11:17 AM IMG_3156 by hank57 posted Jul 24, 2019 at 11:17 AM The middle picture shows a spot that they did not want to sand further near the neck joint. They can touch it up with a little more brown to cover it. But as you can see the top is a plain book matched top. So I am having the top finished in a dirty lemon drop. My finishing example that I sent is here: Screen Shot 2019-07-23 At 5.36.44 PM by hank57 posted Jul 24, 2019 at 11:22 AM Now I know it is a plain plain top so I don't expect flame where there is none but I think this will turn out rather cool.
