    I am a cable novice.... I know that the connector is "TRS", but is the cable Mic cable or something different?

    Trs = tip/ring/sleeve
    A stereo instrument cable.
    Opposed to a standard mono instrument cable having only tip/sleeve.

    It means Tip Ring Sleeve, it's basically a stereo 1/4" cable.

    I'm looking on Redco... they don't have "stereo instrument cable" listed. Would "balanced mic/line cable be the same thing?

    You can get them from Lava Cable or Voodoo Lab. Just do a google search for TRS cable and I'm sure you'll find what you need. Strymon may sell them as well.

    Yes, mic cable or any balanced cable (twin-ax) will work fine. You need two separate conductors in addition to ground. There is no audio passing thru it so cable quality doesn't really matter.
    If you look at stereo cables (TRS 1/4") on www.monoprice.com you can likely find something cheaper than you could make yourself.
