Please take a moment to remember 7 December 1941. Kind regards to everyone.
Torah, Torah, torah
Tora in Japanese means tiger.
The Torah is Jewish scripture
Thanks for remembering.
(Although Torah, Torah, Torah sounds like a musical.)
"we have awoken a sleeping giant"
Not a lot of confidence there!
I love that this isn't an actual Yamamoto quote, but that, thanks to that film*, it might as well have been.
* Now two films.
Thanks for the post.
I still remember my grandfather and great uncles showing us pics of headless "Jap soldiers", battle ships, etc. He had a pic of a badly damaged Yorktown at Pearl too.
He lied about his age to join after the attack, as did many in the town he lived in. They wanted revenge and meant to get it. Not many of that generation left and he passed on early last year. Going to sea at 15 took a lot of balls. R.I.P. papaw.
This is a recording of Audie Murphy discussing the war. He almost sounds broken, mentally, to me. Understandably.
My father-in-law was there that morning....he would speak of it now and then....but not often.
I know what I did
I was uniting both fronts
The Greatest Generation indeed!!!
Thanks for remembering those who died that day.
If you ever find yourself in Oahu, do the tour of the memorial, it is half a day well spent learning about your country and its history.
There is so much about remembering December 7th and being a patriot which makes me say nothing else from now on about today on this forum because of the rules. Bye.
