is that a common problem? mine hums like a mother. weird thing is, the volume of the hum goes up and down when I turn the reverb knob, BUT it does NOT go up and down when I turn the amp up and down. if hums just as much when the volume is on 1 than when the volume is on 12 (didn't really turn it to 12, you know what I mean). I was told the reverb tank was replaced right before I bought it.... didn't think to ask why. it has hummed since I got it....

i had a polytone amp (solid state) that did the same thing.

I would suspect an op amp or tube or whatever drives the reverb in that amp

the tubes were pretty fresh when I got it as well. less than 40 hours of use.

so it is a tube-driven reverb in that amp? for some reason I was thinking it wasn't

to be honest I'm not even sure. it's taken the back burner since I got my Mesa Stiletto 3 12ax7s fyi

    2 questions:

    1. How many channels does the amp have?
    2. Are the 3 12AX7s the only preamp tubes?

It's most likely a solid state reverb.
