Peavey Classic 30 Transformers: Known issue?

Or did I just get a bad apple? Can't complain, took a gamble on a really cheap non-functioning Classic 30, took it to the shop. First the PT was blown, so they got a replacement, then the OT went up while they were play testing it. I know this is a "budget" amp, and I do not know how it was treated previously, but do these parts break regularly? Peavey is generlaly known for relable gear, so I have to think this is a fluke.

Never heard of one going bad-PT or OT. I dont work on them but I read a lot. I also have a few PV's in my collection. Never had an issue with them. I'd be suspect if both the PT and OT failed. These things happen for a reason IMO.Maybe it was abused, maybe theres something going on. Bob

Hey man, sorry to hear about that. My peavey classic 50 blew an OT, the previous owner told me he used to crank it with an attentuator. In hindsight, I should have known that meant it wasn't babied. :bonkBest of luck!
