Pedal Power II "sag" ports

I was just thinking about something. I have a Fulltone Fulldrive 2 that I run off two ports with a cable to make it run at 18v. I know they can handle anywhere from 9 to 18, and I often hear about people running them (and other pedals) at 12v sometimes.

Those "sag" ports are supposed to emulate a dying battery - one I would assume puts out less voltage. I'm wondering if I put the FD2 on those two ports, I'll have 18V - but I should be able to vary the voltage on one of them to get it down to any number between probably 10 and 18 - I could adjust both knobs and probably get down to less than 9 volts (not that I'd want to).

Does this sound reasonable? Anyone used it in this way?

You could use one of those ports to run the FD2 between 4 and 9 vdc,

I sometimes run fuzz pedals on these ports. You can get some cool tones by simulating a weak 9 volt battery.

If you run a fuzz pedal at a lower voltage, it gets more "spitty".

I think a couple ports on the ppl2 will do 12v without needing to use the sag ports

Yeah, set the DIP switch on port 1, 2, 3, or 4 away from the "Normal" position and that's 12V.

Doh!

I knew you had to flip the DIP switch on the Line 6 port(s) because they can be used for "normal" or Line 6, but I had forgotten the other DIP switches went to 12V. Thanks!

I guess my real question was, if I use a "combiner" cable in either the two sag ports, or the one standard port and one sag, it should give me a "variable voltage control", correct?

And I was curious if anyone else had tried this.

The Fulldrive 2 is more saturated at 9v and lets more of the "dry" tone (pushes the drive into the background so to speak) at 18v and I'm thinking I might be able to "dial in" the perfect balance.

What can I say, I'm a tweaker.
