Pedalboard and Cabling Questions !

Hey Everybody,

I was wondering about the sizes of pedaltrain pedalboards and power supplies. For starters, I want a bigger board than I need, so that I can always expand. Right now I have about enough stuff to almost fill a PT-2. I need to go bigger than that. I'm also wondering if there is one where you can easily mount 2 voodoo labs power supplies as I don't see 8 being enough for my board.

Also, say I have 10 pedals to power, can i daisy off of one of the voodoo sockets to power a couple lower power pedals?

Thanks!

also, if there is a better pedalboard than pedaltrain, let me know!

in addition, i'll need to get cabling. whats good these days? i don't want to go all out pricewise, but i'm willing to spend some on good cables. i've heard good things about lava. what else is good?

You can daisy chain pedals off of a tap. You can also use a "Y" power cable for 2 pedals from a tap. Just make sure of the mA of each pedal and that you don't exceed the mA limit of the tap. Analog pedals are best to daisy chain as digital pedals tend to emit noise when daisy chained.

trailer trash :)

I use Lava, but it's cheaper to go diy. You can get some cable per foot and some plugs. If you can't solder, you can learn or have a friend/hire someone to do it.

nice, just ordered a PT3, now i gotta figure out the cabling... i can't solder, but i suppose i could learn. i might rather just "know" its all done right and go the already assembled route. lava seems to have a lot of different types of cables... not sure which way to go. i just know i need about 6 or 7 patch cables and 2 longer ones...

thanks for all the help guys !

If you dont wanna solder, a nice choice would either be George L's or the Lava ELC solder-free. I've tried the Planet Waves kit also and it wasn't bad, but it was kind of hard to determine the exact length of the cable if you want it exact and neat.

If you do learn how to solder and wanna do that a nice way would be buying Mogami 2319 by the foot and maybe the GLS pancake plugs and doing that. Pancake plugs are nice since they save a lot of room between pedals.

I just put together a PT-PRO (I have about 15 pedals). If you have several small pedals with the in/out on the sides, consider some pedal couplers. I use the offset type they are about $6 ea. I too used the Planet Waves pedal board kit. It gives you enough to make 5 right angle cables, MF has them for $50 a set. They are stupid easy to put together.
For power I'm using a Godlyke 9v wall wart & daisy chains for the 9v stuff. For 18v, I'm using a 18v supply that came with my Pigtronix compressor with a daisy chain cable. The folks at Pigtronix told me that pedals draw very little amperage. They said I could run every pedal they make with 1 wall wart & daisy chains. I have a small 4 outlet box for the 9v & 18v wall warts & my A/D A Flanger & Final Phase that have 110 cords.

where are you located? I could hook you up with some evidence audio monorail soldered connections ;)

I'm in Asheville, NC

was looking at a guy on here who makes Magami. He also does the evidence audio cables. Those are a little more expensive, are they much better?
