Discussion about Tubescreamers last week brought up about how a TS lets some clean tone bleed through at some settings.

A sound I'm trying to emulate with a pedal is running two amps, one dirty and one clean.

I know there are some pedals out there that have a mix knob for clean/dirt, but which ones will do this best?

I'm hoping to acheive a balance between Fenderish cleans and growly distortion, controlled by the attack of the strings.

My Dr. Scientist Elements and Frazz Dazzler both have a mix knob. Quite useful at times.

Are both those pedals able to get a blend of clean and dirt together?

The Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive was probably the most well known overdrive with a clean blend for quite some time. It’s a Tube Screamer derivative IIRC. I seem to recall the Way Huge Pork Loin being a popular choice as well.

Route 66 V3. Clean mix for compression and OD. Very tempted to try this one for that reason!

I have the EXH Hot Wax, it's a dual OD, that stacks well and has a blend knob. The blend knob I find is actually the secret weapon on the pedal and really allows you to shape what it is your trying to do.
Especially with the dual OD options, you can crank the drive on one side and keep it low on the other and have 3 really different options and levels of gain while still allowing some nice cleans through.

It's both an OD and Fuzz. The OD and Fuzz are blendable and the dry signal is blendable with both.

And there's the grand-dad of this sort of thing: the Fender Blender.

Wampler Hot Wired has two different overdrive sides, resonant switches and a clean blend on one of the overdrive side. Tons of great useful tones in there. The blend works really well a big clean boost with a little bit of grit.

Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive Mod. Nice versatile pedal, can do the tube driver EJ thing too. Just a bit large for my board, so sold it
