PG is notorious for recording a ton of tracks then using small snippets from them only briefly. I vaguely recall a Levin interview from the US era where he said he spent a week recording bass tracks for the album & had no expectations of any of it making it to the final mix.

There's a great documentary "Classic Albums" I saw a few weeks ago on either Netflix or Amazon Prime

Not sure how I would feel if I was in TL's shoes there.

Steely Dan were notorious for the same thing. A lot of famous people got left on the cutting room floor. I tend to go with the artist on this.

They've been playing together since the late 70's so i'm guessing he's made peace with it.

    For sure.

Didn't mean that there was any gripe there.

But don't you kind of like the idea that Levin is harboring some deep resentment, but he refuses to let on about it and continues to record and perform with Gabriel just to not give him the satisfaction?

Well, he gets paid the same either way.

The getting clocked in the back of the head with a mic stand onstage might have been of more concern.

But seriously, Levin is famous for getting along with folks. Except Buddy Rich.

Well that and Levin makes bank - when recording Gabriel has him (and others) on
retainer the entire time he is recording. Levin also makes top end money on tours. The
last one I heard about Levin made over $1 million for 2 years.

Levin doesn't make any where near that on his own.

PG got into the habit of smashing lights with his mic stand at the end of the show. One time, the stand folded unexpectedly and whacked Levin on the back of the head. Blood ensued.

I read that Knopfler offered...Paul Franklin(?) a million to go on tour for a year+, and got turned down, because you don’t want to be out of rotation for that long.

That means that Franklin had more on the table. I don't know about Levin - everyone likes him it seems.
Maybe he gets more - I'll ask my accountant friend - maybe it was a Million a year.

Yes - she is part of a group accountant firm that handles quite a few high profile stars
touring business's - including Gabriels. She essentially works for Gailforce.

This was a while back (the last DS tour as I recall), and I read it in Musician or some similar.

Right..I think if he turned down $1 Million for one year he had at least that on the books for the year - otherwise why
    turn it down?

Edit: big gated reverb on drums, check. I love it on this album...

Hi, what do you mean with the cliche production?
    Thanks, Daan
