Starting a new thread as I have been getting some old BOSS pedals off my board, looking for some higher quality sounds. Looking to replace the PH-3. I am thinking about the '74 Vintage Phase 90 Analogman Mod. Any other suggestions, or experiences with the aforementioned?

VFE Tractor Beam (formerly Enterprise, recently re-named)

Not as many stages available as your PH-3 but, if you're looking at a Phase 90 - you don't need them anyway.

I saw that suggested in a different thread. Thanks.

You are correct about the stages, I only use one on the PH-3... Cool to have the options I guess, but I'm more about simplicity.

I keep coming back to the script MXR reissues. I have a Phase 45 and Phase 90, they are different enough to have both available. Owned EQD, Retro Sonic, Small Stone V2 (also great, should have kept that one).

The VFE Tractor Beam (as mentioned above) is the best Phaser I've owned. It can do 2,3,4 stage phaser and it has a Phaser, Vibe, Phase/Vibe switch. Very versitle. Great sound.

I just got this EHX Bad Stone reissue and it gives me exactly what I need from a phaser. I have tried the HBE Psylocibe and the EHX Small Stone and this gives me the swoosh and the simplicity that I couldn't get from those two.

    :aok

i'd lusted after the blackout wheststone for a long time, but not the cost. found one at an agreeable price, and will probably never think about phase/vibe pedals ever again. great sound quality, well thought out controls (even if there are many of them) some nice tricks up it's sleeve, and lastly, FUN! if you don't want to tweak though, look elsewhere :)

I have both on my board.

I use the AM modded CSP026 74 Vintage Phase 90 for more traditional Phase settings ie Floyd, Zep, etc. Great pedal, highly recommended.

I use the PH3 for Incubus and other cool volume swells.

The Script Phase 90 is great. If you want something more subtle go with a Phase 45.

The Empress has an amazing sound, but it is quite pricey. Give it a try if you can find one used - it will stay on your board!
