Weird - Frisell has had some interesting pairings lately (see also his recent ambient performance with James McNew from Yo La Tengo). I'm not totally surprised about this particular one, though, since even Nels Cline recently joined a few "Phil Lesh & Friends" shows - I guess the lines between jazz, experimental, and jam band material is getting blurrier as time goes on. On second glance, Billy Martin is on drums and that's more or less his thing, too.

Billy Martin + Bill Frisell = want to hear this.

However $80 tickets? Really, where in the world is this?

Phil's performance club in San Raphael.

    They often offer streams.

It's a small venue and having any sort of tapers section would be more of a nuisance, I think. Besides, one way or another, all the shows end up on YouTube with perfect audio/video. It only takes a single source to distribute live shows to fans these days...no need for a bunch of militant tapers anymore.

No taping policy sure, but here's the show. 3 and a half hours.

absolutely beautiful, I just love it. I grab most of the shows at TXR, I love the combinations that Phil puts together. I just love how he's always rolling different combinations, spur of the moment different combinations - I just wish I could get a few more players here locally to do the same! Anybody interested and talented in the area, please buzz me -
