Doesn't look very alive to me. I haven't been since the Valley Forge days but there were a lot more people there than that.

You mean back before every one could shop on the internet?

That photo was right at show opening. There was long line to get in after me. Good crowd. Not the best show I’ve seen but still worthwhile.

Sad to have experienced what this show has become. It's a fraction of the size and content of its former self. I've been to quite a few at both the former venue and the current Expo Center at Oaks, PA. This one was my last.

What were the main problems and what could they have done differently?

The problem is not of the show organizers' doing or anything they can fix (the organizers can't change the impact of the internet).

Pretty much a shame. I usually have gone to shows to check out vintage gear but the I word certainly has changed how business is conducted.

Biggest disappointment I found was almost everything was very high priced. There was very little in the mid-range pricing area that I live in. I can't imagine very much gear was sold. You used to be able to find some good deals at show.

As at last year's show, there were two Japanese dealer booths full (and I do mean full) of bought guitars to take to Japan with no (zero) guitars to sell. (Don't misconstrue this comment as suggesting anything nefarious in that - I'm simply pointing out that gear was sold, just perhaps not to people like me.)

Did you put in any offers on anything? Stuff can sell for alot less than asking.

I did almost buy the Gristlemaster I mentioned above. They offered a decent deal with a case. But, I decided to wait because I have a couple other G.A.S. priorities I looking into first.

Which reinforces my initial comment about it!

I used to go the shows in Valley Forge back in the '90s. I thought about going this weekend, but I wondered what I'm likely to see that I'm not already seeing on sites like Reverb and eBay, etc. Obviously there is nothing like seeing stuff in person and the fun of being there, but purely in terms of looking for specific pieces, I figured I'd already have seen them online.

It's weird -- I've been toying with getting a PRS 513 or 509, and there seem to be a disproportionate number listed from Japan, and some pretty nice examples at that. (Also, echoing what you said, this is merely an observation of what I see on eBay.)

Unfortunately (or fortunately, judging from the posts thus far), I had to work this past weekend. The only reason I would’ve gone was to meet some fellow forumites anyway, now that would be cool!:)
Now I have to figure out another way to get together with you morans!:D

my biggest issue with the show was there was no signs how to get in. I literally park and have no clue where to go. there were at least 3 other events going on, a reptile show, a hot tub show, and some religious thing going on and not one sign for the guitar show. I don't think anyone at the beginning knew where to go.

IMO, the main problem is that the gang of stuff-worshippers & kollecktors who have focused on musical instruments have priced actual musicians out of being able to afford cool old instruments. This seems to have lead to an ever shrinking pool of those whose interest in such things is not tied to the potential further inflation of value. Going to a "guitar" show these days is sort of like visiting the stock market to watch programmed trading

Yeah - no one who buys an old guitar actually knows how to play it
