Pickup Builders - Some Help !

    Hi , i have some old pickups i want to replace the magnets on . The thing is they have these fat ceramic magnets that are 6mm thick and the maple spacers are the same but the Alnico magnets i want to replace them with are 3mm thick . Do i need to replace / make some maple spacers the same thickness as the Alnicos so it all clamps down together ? or is it ok to have a gap from the base plate because the magnet sticks to the coils ? Also are the spacers glued to the base plate , do the come off easily ?

    Any advice would be appreciated thanks

    If it's a PAF type pickup the wood spacers aren't glued. I would make thw wood spacer the same thickness as the magnets.

    Yes its a PAF type , thanks for your help , i'll make some smaller ones .
