pickup guru's

im going to get some new pickups for my s/s/s strat and have some kind of mid boost fitted. my tone idols are john mayer, gilmour, clapton and srv
please can everyone recommend me some nice pickups and mid boost(might just go for what clapton has got)

also mainly going to be playing blues/ soul kind of stuff through a two rock jet

Hello Henry, Check out Jeff Chevalier Pickups.The '59 model(I have a set myself) is a nice pickup.Rothstein Guitars Fat Tuesday Active Mid Boost.Listen to the clips on their sites for a start.Hope this info helps.

then visit the klien pickup site and even listen to some u tube clips

chris klein has scooped mid start pups for the jm tones and even his version of jm tones and they really are impressive

also check his really low put pickups and notice not only they how they made and tone but what a bang for the buck

just dropped in a set of 69's wow wow a few months back i used kleins in my tele
and there heavenly

Well, it will be harder to capture that tone if you want the sounds of all of your tone idols. John Mayer plays a pickup with scooped mids whereas SRV had a pretty heavy mid feel.
I will second the recommendation from marsos52...Klein has some great stuff. But you can also look into Lindy Fralins. If you arent sure, you can call both and tell them what you are looking for.

Look around for a loaded Powerhouse Strat pick guard or a Powerhouse body with the electronics etc. still in tact.

gonna go with so klein big dipper type with lower output but looking for a mid boost to add in does anyone know what is on the clapton strat

I've been through much the same thing - get in touch with Chris Kinman about what to look for in a pickup. He's a wealth of knowledge..

I remember seeing an add for a mid boost that fits in the input jack of a strat,anybody else see it.
I can't remember what magazine it was in.
