    Hey all,

I have a '90 Les paul standard (tobacco SB) currently has gibson 490R/490T pickups looking for a set of pickups that aren't as hot, balanced and smooth, crisp cleans in the neck pos. not to boomy/muddy like the 490R yet good for all styles blues, classic rock, metal. any suggestions/opinions?

    Thanks,
    Joe

I agree with the Seth Lover suggestion. I put one in the neck of my Les Paul to replace a 490R and it sounds amazing - great clarity and note articulation. I also experimented with moving the 490R to the bridge. Although it's usually a neck pickup, it works well in the bridge and is a better balance for the low output PAF-style Seth Lover.
