I've got a 71' ES-335 CRR. Right now it's got a pair of dirty fingers in. They sound great but out of a JCM 800 they're just too hot. Can anyone suggest good pickups for an ES-335 that will really giv'er without feeding back like crazy? Thanks.

I have tried a lot of pickups in my 335. Here they are (the HBs, anyway) in order of my preference:

Duncan Seth Lover - outstrips the closest second by a significant margin.
    Duncan Antiquities, Wolfetone Legends (tied)
Harmonic Design Vintage Plus - These are potted, if that matters to you.
    Duncan Alnico II Pro
Dimarzio Virtual PAF (Alnico V magnets)
    Gibson Classic 57
    Duncan 59
    Duncan Pearly Gates
Original Gibson Tim Shaw "PAF Reissues"
    Duncan Jazz

My favorite by far are Sheptone's (www.sheptone.com)
I ve compared em to my original 59 test set and equipped a couple of 335 with em, they re just as good as real good PAF ...
You can order em in whatever output level you like but from what I understand you d probly be happy with a set of regular vintage like original PAF low or mid low output.
    Cheers

    Cheaper would be Duncan 59s.

More expensive would be some of the WCR offerings.
