    this happened to me.

You have to experiment pointing the mic at the different letters.

    Each one sounds different.

Try modding the amp to have the sound come from where the mic is pointed instead of coming from the letters!

Here are a few snaps I took recently of some experiments.

First up is a stereo chorus... the Vox had the processed signal, the Rivera had the unprocessed. It's hard to tell but the mics are at a 90º angle, capsules in phase. The mics are a lot farther away than I would normally place SDCs but the volume level was high and they came out fine, though I used PT's "Gain" plug to bring them both up about 5 dB.

I would have liked to use 2 LDCs but I don't have 2 of the same. Which would have been OK as far as sound, but I wanted both mics the same because it was an experiment. The whole XY config is at a funky angle because each mic is pointing to a dust cap seam.

Below is from the SM57 vs. SM58 experiment I did a few days ago. It's hard to see from this angle, but the front of the 57 is actually about 1/8" from the grill, and the capsules are right next to each other at an equal distance from the grill. They are aimed at opposite edges of the dust cap. Cables were identical as were preamp channels. I preferred the 57 by a very narrow margin.
