Pretty nice sounding amp, but i was confused because when it was on the el84 side it didnt sound chimey at all... infact it sounded more chimey when the dial was in the middle. Why is this?

I feel the 6V6 adds some big-ness to it and over all just a little more of everything. THe EL84 adds the sheen and glass to the top. So, I know my settings are in the middle then a few touches to the EL84 side... of course I will change that sometime soon probably...
If I get some time today I will record some quick stuff one the 84 side versus the 6v6 side and then some in the middle.

imo...i don't get super "chimey" out of the amp at any setting....the 6v6 side seems more mid scooped. a little smoother or flatter, i guess. the el84 settings seems more middy and aggressive.

In my limited experience with the Rebel 20, the difference between the 6V6 and EL84 settings were hardly noticeable. But I didn't crank it, so maybe I missed out.

However, on the Renegade 65, you can really tell the difference between the 6L6 and EL34 settings.
