How would I connect a laptop or iphone to a boss br 1600 to jam with backing tracks? The manual mentions cd players, a little outdated. Is there a way?

Use a splitter adapter out the headphone jack.

I have studio monitors connected to the recorder I think it turns off the headphones jack while they’re plugged in. Do you mean plug the laptop into the digital in on the recorder?

No, I meant take the headphone jack of your laptop or iPad into the BR1600 mix channels. Monitor the whole mix via your BR1600. It's not the most HiFi way but it's cheap and simple.

Do this everyday with my BR600. Laptop/BR600 is my primary practice tool.

One last question, my boss br 600 takes a 1/8" jack to the sub mix, but my 1600 takes two digital audio cables into the digital line in. So I plug a 1/8" trs to dual digital audio cables? I can't find a dual dac to 3.5mm cable.
