I have to play a gig in june (my first gig!). The amp i play with at home too big for the venue. it also weighs 86 pounds and i don't want to tote that bastard to every gig i play. also, it is a solid state amp.

i'd love everyone's opinion on the best tube amp to pick up. i can only spend up to $500 (the less the better). it doesn't need to be huge, 20-50 watts should do the trick. if it helps you make suggestions, i'll be playing a g&l asat classic, an epi elitist casino, a les paul standard, and an sg standard through it. mostly bluesy indie rock.

thanks in advance for the advice. i always appreciate all the knowledge around this joint.

I'll "third" the Delta Blues 210, great amp for the money.

    Other suggestions:
Used Reverend Hellhound (no longer made).

I couldn't be happier with my Fender Blues Deluxe. It was discontinued but recently brought back as a re-issue...and there is only one reason to re-issue something, demand.

    It's 1x12, 40w, 2 channel, 2x6L6, 3x12AX7, reverb and sounds great.

Not bad at all. Really good (unexpected) Fender-y cleans and decent grind, plus reverb and boost, which I thought helped get the overdrive side into Marshall territory quite well. Good speaker (V30) and note definition. Not really a big reverb user, so I can't comment on that.

Search the Amps And Cabs threads here, and you'll get some good hits with lots more details and observations. I think it's a pretty nice amp. Almost bought one a little while back.

I'm in the same boat as you, I picked up a Traynor YCV40. Do that and swap the tubes with JJs (www.eurotubes.com). The amp could be around $500 on ebay, and the tubes will cost around $60.

I have a white & gold V32 from Guitar Center.
Everybody I talk to that bought one says the same thing as me... "I can't believe I bought a Crate".
That's my grab & go amp and it feels really good to play.
    My other amps are a '64 Super Reverb, a Dr Z Rt66, a Matchless Lightning 2-10 Reverb and a 1957 Magnatone 280A, so it's not like I don't have choices!

    +1

I have the V16, and while it's not perfect, not much is better in the sub 500 range.

Thers a new epiphone combo in Music 123 catalogue fro $499. It seems like a bluesbreaker type amp. Might be a good match
