So...........my wife went to GC for me to buy me an hd500. They did a price match but gave her the floor model. They also gave her the power supply but I know the newer ones have the long type, but they gave her the older m series type, does anybody know if it will work? I'm afraid to try.

I don't have an HD500 but write here the specifications (Polariry, Volts, Amperes, etc) of your power supply and some users with the new type could compare them and tell you :)

Mine is the long one. 9-volts, 3 amps, positive terminal outside negative terminal inside. Hope this helps

Just a heads-up, the HD500 never shipped with anything except the long type. The M type was never included so use with caution!

The M-series power supply will not work and might damage your unit.

The PS for the HD 500 is a DC-3G. Get the right one.

Get this, we called back to the GC to tell them of their mistake and the "manager" tells us that it was plugged in with it the whole time (the PX2) power supply. He then says, "we have a Pod HD400 in stock" but I tell them I want the 500, so now I will have to wait till Wednesday, but....it will cost me $399 for a new 500, not a bad deal I guess. Just a huge inconvenience, as I wanted to use it tomorrow at church. Would you guys push for something for the inconvenience?

that's a solid deal, and from the way you prefaced that last post, I thought GC was going to stiff you in some way. It's an inconvenience that the HD500 wasn't in stock, but in the end, they did right by you.

I bought mine for $399 new, shipped, in a sealed box from Elderly using one of their "20% off all pedals" coupons that they offer every once in a while. If the price your wife got the floor model for today was lower than $399 (probably + tax unless the mgr specifically told you $399 out the door) and they don't honor that same price for a proper new one, get a full refund and go somewhere else. Tell them GC gave you that quote and ask them if they'll honor it because you'd rather give your business and money to them. If there isn't another store nearby that stocks them, order one over the phone from Elderly or any number of other stores and ask if they can do better based on your GC quote. MF never hasn't offered me less than 10% off when I call them, often when I didn't even ask. Shop around...maybe Amazon or MF or AMS has a current coupon or an eBay seller has it listed as "best offer."
