I'd rather have what sounded/felt/worked right for the gig or session. Sometimes my '66 Princeton and CS Strat do the trick. Other times my Bogner Goldfinger and Grosh RRC work. My last studio gig I used my Suhr S-1 and a Swart AST. Hard to nail just one rig down for me!

Im kinda lookin to see what everyone's best/favorite rig under 5000 would be so i guess if u went used that would work

No offense dude, but a looksie through your threads in the last month tells me you need to take a breather. You're 21. Play a bunch of guitars through a bunch of amps and get the combo that works best for you. Stop worrying about guitar feng shui and which combo of super expensive guitar matches best with which super expensive amp. If it ends up being that your ears like the $500 strat through the $1000 amp, then so be it.

Dude, It's not the depth of the well or the length of the rope... it's how you swing the bucket.

You need to pump the brakes a little.

You don't need to spend 5K to have a awsome sounding rig. I think you need to take some time play some different guitars and amps and see what you like.

It sounds like your trying to find a rig that will impress TGP sheep. You need to find a rig that will make you happy and who cares what anyone else thinks.

Good luck.

Also if your patient, 5k will buy you a couple of very nice guitars and a couple of amps and a few nice pedals.

Sub the DRRI for any super reverb and I'm good. Sub the AC30 for a Marshall 1959 or 2203 and i'm better. Sub the R8/9 for a good tele I'm golden too. We've all got different preferences. There are hundreds of amazing combinations under 5k. To each their own.

There really isn't anything I can't do with my Savage Blitz and '72 Goldtop. Since that is what works for me now after trying many different combinations, I'll dub that my sub-5k choice. Its ridiculous how cheap you can get a Savage Blitz for these days. I blame it on the ****** youtube clips.

Already picked mine:

Three Les Pauls
One Fender Twin Reverb
One Fender DRRI

Who could ask for anything more?

But if you're narrowing to price, my Classic Antique and DRRI totaled about $2,100. My R6 and DRRI would total about $3,100.

p.s. I got them because that's what I wanted. I swapped a Hot Rod DeVille 4x10 for my Twin Reverb and the R9 was a gift earlier this year.

I don't even have 5000 bucks to spend on a guitar or amp. LOL! I've already bought a fender american standard stratocaster with a Atomic Space Tone MK2

Chose other. Played a matchless (can't remember the model but it was a ac30 type)
With my DGT, that's definitely my choice.......now in reality I play a much cheaper amp, but I love it all the same. Hughes and kettner amp. Sounds fantastic. Don't be fooled by the price tag of anything, let it speak before the price speaks for it.
there are so many fantastic sub 4k setups, hell sub 2k setups even.

I would get someone off of the amp garage to build me a nice dumble clone, (Tone Merc)

And Ron Kirn to build me a decent strat. Ron does awesome things like flush mounted jackplates and neckplates.

Probably around 2500 for each.

EDIT: I didnt read the whole thread. Here is my rig.

Peavy 5150 halfstack $1500 on the high side

Peavey C30 400

72 Twin Reverb 1000 Also on the high side

Mutt strat with an 1200 in parts total
american deluxe neck
and a hwy 1 body

Thats 4100 dollars total.

That leaves you with 900 for all the extra bull that comes along like cords and such. I dont really recommend those big amps that I have, I just came across them over the years. But with those amps you get alot of different sounds.

I would rather have all those amps before I got one boutique amp. If your a new player your probably not gonna have a good enough idea to be buying one of those, yet.

For a beginner I would recommend the classic 30 peavy with a matching sealed cab and an american strat with a single coil sized humbucker from seymoure duncan in the bridge.

You posted this in another one of your threads just yesterday. Put down the internets, buddy.

I was looking for a price and couldn't find anything except for the pre made guitars. Is it possible to get a cs start or tele under $3500? I could go a little higher but that would mean cutting my amp budget, which i was gonna get DRRI.

I was just seeing what ultra high end gear people like and if they prefer a better amp to a better guitar or vice versa

No, i was thinking of dropping a max of 3500 on the custom shop and then went to the store and they didn't give me the discount i wanted and i really didn't like it 1500 dollars worth more than the standard. I decided to just get the standard with the Swart

None of the above. A nice Strat into a Sommatone Roaring 40 would be my dream rig.

I have the Strat. Can't afford the Sommatone -- yet.
