Just curious about all Gear Page Members these days.. Who plays out live and who plays only at home? :huh
This isn't any judgement call, I'm just curious

Sadly only at home these days. A band is too big of a commitment and work doesn't offer that sort of time off. I love playing live and keep telling myself that I need to find time to set up/join a new band but the modern hectic workaholic lifestyle doesn't offer the possibility for workerbots to stop and smell the roses.

I filled in for a bassist recently and had such a blast I'm putting together a duo.
Well have 2 great singers, one full time guitar and a utility guy (me)
Well be doing wineries, coffee shops and dinner clubs.
No more 2:30 bar gigs for me, though. Nasty.

I play out, though not every weekend but often enough for my taste. Naturally, I also play at home as I like to learn all my stuff before getting to band practice.

I'm a worship leader @ my church and I play every other week at least. I guess that counts as playing out. And, of course, I also play at home quite a bit.

I NEVER play at home. Have two kids under 3. I happen to be lucky enough to be a full time musician/pastor at a church and I get to play a lot. Things would be different if I had a normal job.

My playing time is pretty much always after the kids bed time and only in headphones at that point. Occasionally I'll get to play through my amp here at the house but it's not very often. Ah....kids. ;)

After gigging for a long time, I stopped playing a couple years ago to focus on our little guitar building venture. These days I only play out on special occasions and guitar and amp shows. I'd like to go back to doing some gigging later this year. I'd love to see what the POD HD/QSC combo would be like for playing out. I think it would be great for my sort of gig. It sounds so good at low volumes.

I play out once in a while in the local bars with a cover band, we play Classic Rock and Blues covers. It's getting harder all the time as I get older !

Longest break between live gigging has been about 6 mos once and about a year once since about 1980. Currently have not played out since December, but since I have been playing most of my life, I'll go with that. ;)

I'm an English teacher in South Korea and I play at church every week and with my two person piano pop/rock band. We have 3 gigs this month but may be doing closer to 1 per month. Back in the States I played weekly at church which is why I got a modeler (X3 then HD500) for playing at the appropriate volume and stage volume. For my situation this has been the perfect gear.

We are not pro, we play mostly for fun but quite a lot if you consider that all of us has a "normal" job. 6-8 gigs a month

Why limit this to the modeling forum? I'd be more interested to see what percent of the general Gear Page population plays.

I play out at my wife's sewing store on Saturday's (it is a 1927 stone/slate roof house with a big porch), play for free but I get lunch. Customer's like it and I get to play for 6 hours or so. I'm not quitting my day job.. I'd like to play out more... about 90% at home... :-(
