This is from our late (and still missed) wolf hybrid, Finn, who died in 2001. He loved the cold and the snow, and my greatest regret is that when the time came for him to leave us, we didn't allow him to pass on where he wanted to be: half buried in an icy drift.

Some years before, my spouse, grooming him, saved all the double-coat fur she combed out of him, carded it, spun it, and knitted this fur hat. Eighteen years later, Finn is still keeping me warm on frigid days when I'm shoveling snow.

    Good hunting, Finn!

My favorite winter hat is a Stetson Gun Club fedora.

Came in the box with my bow and it was a good fit right away. I'm picky about my hats (footwear too), some work, some don't.

    And when it's cold:

Boy I was hoping for some ideas for a stage hat and I'm only reminded at how few choices there are. Back to a baseball type hat.

This style was my favorite for the years that I owned it. I left it behind at a restaurant that I went to with a large group of coworkers, when I went back it was nowhere to be found.

The right hat is the one that makes you look like yourself, except with a hat.

If people notice the hat before they notice you, you've selected the wrong hat.

I've never found one that made me feel more comfortable or more myself than not having it on.

No doubt. I've always gathered hats because I really want to have that perfect one. But other than tons of different baseball caps over the years(don't even really wear those hardly at all anymore though) I've never really settled into one that's felt like My Hat. Actually went digging around thru my hats again because of this thread and found a couple other goorin's I'd forgot about a little short brim fedora and that green short billed army looking cap. And another small raffia/straw fedora thing plus some others. I've had this awesome blue felt beret(think it's an old kangol but any markings are long worn away) forever actually love that thing but I've never had the motivation to wear it in public--looks kinda cool though imo. Like the exact hat a painter would wear. Oh well. Maybe in another lifetime.

I don't wear these on stage, but I pretty much always have a military boonie when I'm camping or hiking. I'm allergic to many things, including sun screen. So a brimmed hat is handy when I'm out in the sun.

Well I'm a "hat guy" and pretty much always have been. My favorite is a black Buckaroo style hat in 100% beaver fur by Rocky Mountain Hat Co. in Bozeman, MT. For those that don't know it's a "western" style hat favored by "Buckaroos" primarily in parts of Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, and California mostly. When I got this hat about 20 years ago it wasn't very common--only associated with those into the tradition of this style of horsemanship. More recently it's become a more mainstream western style all over the states, and even internationally. I recently had it rebuilt/refurbished. I also have the same hat in a silverbelly color. If I'm doing a Blues gig I typically wear my straw Stetson Stratoliner in the summer/warmer weather, and either a similar felt Fedora or newsboy cap in colder weather.
