Saw this on another site, and it seemed like fun. :AOK
somewhere around here
somewhere around here
but it's morphing again...
My first "board":
I don't have a picture - but it was a Crybaby Wah, Tokai Distortion and a Arion Tuner (9V only) with a Korean Strat into a Gorilla 1x12 combo.
This is today..
No photos of the first rig. It was:
Colorsound Wah -> no-name Phaser (like a project box woth a single sped knob in the right hand side) -> Colorsound Overdriver -> 30 watt 1x12 solid-state amp made by a local guy called Dennis Pearson
Now? More rigs than I care to think about
I'm playing with two bands this weekend, one playing blues/jam stuff who I've played with many times before, and the other playing original rock stuff with three guys who are flaying in for two gigs.
I'm taking the BCB-60 & Pedal Tote boards in my sig, with a Boss ME-50 & POD 2.0 with Floorboard as back-ups. '81 SF Twin Reverb & Laney VC-30 112 amps. It could be my last gig in Malaysia, so I'm going out with all guns blazing
Picture from the past
Here's a cell phone camera pic of my first true pedalboard:
Boss TU-2 tuner ->
Barber Tone Press ->
MXR script logo Phase 45 ->
Barber LTD ->
Keeley modded Maxon OD808 ->
Maxon CS505 Chorus ->
Guyatone TD-X Tube Echo ->
Barber Launch Pad
The space where the Morley A/B/Y box is located is the spot I normally used for the 3-button footswitch for the Rivera Jake combo amp I was using at the time. I would occasionally use the Morley switcher (modded to be a passive A/B switch) when using two amps for switching between the two - the Rivera Jake and a vertical input JCM800 4010 1x12 combo.
Power supply: a One Spot adapter (mounted underneath the board) with a daisy-chain distribution cable.
Pedal board: Original PedalTrain with HSC
Picture from the present
Here's a picture of my current pedalboard:
All of the unpainted pedals are my mods, kits, or DIY builds.
Compressor -> This circuit is a Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer clone.
Tuner Mute / Buffer -> This is a passive A/B switch with a defeatable op-amp based buffer. The B output is connected to a Peterson StroboStomp tuner.
MXR script-logo Phase 45 -> This is the pedal I've owned the longest - almost 20 years. I modified it for true bypass switching and added a power jack.
Boost -> This circuit is loosely based on the COT50 with a tone control voiced like a DA Rangemaster.
Overdrive-1 - This low gain overdrive is a 'Burst Eternity inspired circuit with a diode/LED clipping switch and less overall gain.
Overdrive-2 -> This medium gain overdrive circuit is based on the Marshall BluesBreaker circuit with some cues taken from the KOT and Crunch Box circuits.
Overdrive-3 -> This is a modified GGG ITS8 (TS808) kit. It was initially modified to L'DO specs and has since been converted to CJOD specs. It's basically a CJOD with a diode/lift/LED clipping switch and a bass boost switch.
Distortion-1 -> This is a modified BYOC Mighty Mouse 2 (RAT) kit. It has been modified to M'OD specs with a couple of tweaks.
Distortion-2 -> This one is a modified and rehoused MI Audio Crunch Box with the presence trim pot relocated to a top mounted pot (all of the pedals on the back tier are housed in the taller 125 enclosures so that footswitch access clears the controls on the front tier pedals).
Tremolo -> This was my first perf board build. It's a modified EA Tremolo circuit based on the project posted at Runoffgroove.com
Power supply: Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 mounted underneath the board.
Pedal board: PedalTrain PT2 w/ATA case
Amp: Fuchs ODS-50 SLX HT 1x12 combo w/EVM-12L speaker
I use a 1/2-U rack sized Boss SE-70 processor set 100% wet in the amps parallel effects loop for Chorus and Delay. I also use the amps built-in spring reverb.
The current layout is likely to remain as it is for the foreseeable future.
IN THE BEGINNING...
Wow!! That's a big change. :AOK
I don't have pics of my earliest stuff (1982-ish), so here's a shot of mine shortly after joining TGP (around May '05-ish I think):
The last current pic I have, though mine's a little torn apart at the moment:
Just put together my first pedal board early last year. Now I have two!
1st one I have a pic of (maybe 5/07)
as of last night
it'll be changing again soon
For the longest time, I've only ever plugged into my script phase 90...
Then, there was the first pedalboard:
and here's a few (somewhat) up to date pictures:
My first board was something like this.
I remember going nuts when I first got my RC Booster, and going even MORE nuts when I got the Ultimate Octave!
Not too long after that it became this...
I scaled it down a little for gigs and then came up with this...
I then ventured into the world of Moogerfoogers and a PT PRO!
Right now it looks like this, scaled down to what I only need - I've come to the realization I only use just about 2 Moogerfoogers at one time. Now all that's left to add is a tuner.
