Ok- we've all heard many magic combinations of amp and guitar, but I am amazed when I hear something that really works and sounds amazing, like Pete Townsend with his tweed amp and the Goodrich volume pedal and Gretsch 6120 used for those great 70s Who albums given to him by Joe Walsh. I discovered today an amazing combination- the Germino Club 40 and a Les Paul Deluxe w/ minihumbuckers. It has chunk and clarity in all positions. I laughed out loud when I heard it it was that good. One of the best rhythm tones I've heard, sort of like a really fat Vox cranked up without the compression. Amazing combination... Post your discoveries! ***EDIT: Can you guys edit or post WHAT is special about these combinations? In my case with the Les Paul Deluxe into the Club 40, it was amazingly clear, versus a regular Les Paul which is wooly in a nice way with old Marshall non MV circuits, no low end rumbling/mush but sort of very Vox AC30 like but with a LOT of meat on the notes. It is an amazing combination and a nearly PERFECT rhythm tone for me.
