You know those guitars that stand out in some way from the rest of the pack, i.,e., special orders, prototypes, custom made. Cheap, expensive, in-between, doesn’t matter, just something that sets it apart in it’s weight class.

Okay first up consider my 2000 Gibson Studio Custom:

All fine and good, but Google Gibson Les Paul Studio Custom and you find that this model was only ever produced by Norlin from 83-86. I mean what in the love of God is it if it’s not a Studio Custom. And to add to the intrigue, by all appearances, it’s a one piece mahogany back and a one piece carved maple top.

It also sounds and plays amazing and holds tune exceedingly well with stock Gold Grover tuners. I got it from the old Cowtown Guitars when it was off Maryland Parkway here in Vegas in November of 2011. It says Studio Lite (not) on the receipt and I’m not going to risk more push back by disclosing what I paid for it with the original case. :noevil

Mid 80’s Roscoe. Not only were Roscoe’s made in the same city I lived in, but this particular one was the cover model for Keith Roscoe’s catalog.

It also was the main guitar for a friend of mine, in his band in the 80’s. After I bought it from Facebook marketplace, he told me he worked at KFC all summer through high school to have this guitar made.

Okay, I'll play-
Body and neck are MIJ from the mid-70s
Tuners are Grovers that stopped production around 1970, bridge pickup is a Hi-A (early Bartolini) from around 1975, Bridge is a Fender Brass Works from around 1978.
7 lbs 15 ozs. It's good.

Well....here's my unicorn: 80's Ibanez with a triple coil pickup, Power series.

I really wish my local store had the other version with the middle and neck single coils, which is the one you see in some of the early Satriani videos, but this is what they had. Love the guitar. I really learned how to play guitar with it. I finally had a decent guitar that I could really practice and play better with.

I’m going to post 2. First is a PRS JA-15. Spruce top, maple sides, back, and neck. I’ve never seen another in person (although I know they made more). Pickups are voiced similarly to a ‘52 Tele. More rockabilly than jazz.

Second is a Charvel from the Custom Shop. I saw this online and had to have it. This is literally a 16-year-old me’s dream guitar. Only changes are to convert it to a pop-in arm and replace the Custom 5’s Alnico V magnet with an Alnico VIII.

Lovely Jag something… They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, but c’mon, no story?
1994 mij jazzmaster.
Full mastery hardware, decoboom guard, JMascis (squier p90esque versions) pickups, 1 vol, lp switch placement. It’s a rock and roll machine.
