You know those guitars that stand out in some way from the rest of the pack, i.,e., special orders, prototypes, custom made. Cheap, expensive, in-between, doesn’t matter, just something that sets it apart in it’s weight class.
Okay first up consider my 2000 Gibson Studio Custom:
All fine and good, but Google Gibson Les Paul Studio Custom and you find that this model was only ever produced by Norlin from 83-86. I mean what in the love of God is it if it’s not a Studio Custom. And to add to the intrigue, by all appearances, it’s a one piece mahogany back and a one piece carved maple top.
It also sounds and plays amazing and holds tune exceedingly well with stock Gold Grover tuners. I got it from the old Cowtown Guitars when it was off Maryland Parkway here in Vegas in November of 2011. It says Studio Lite (not) on the receipt and I’m not going to risk more push back by disclosing what I paid for it with the original case.
