Is there an amp builder today who's amps (in the future) will be as sought after as Dumble amps?

Caveat: If not quite to "Dumble" levels of fame, who will still command huge resale and desirability?

What Penny Stock can you buy today that will be priced at $200/share in 15 years? :facepalm

I can't predict whose amp will be sought-after 15 years from now. But I can predict this thread will wind up filled with the names of boutique brands that guys spent good money buying, and now they hope the prices go up rather than down...

Actually, scratch Bugera. I'd say it's going to be the first person to transcend beyond the crystal lettuce. Diamond lettuce is the future of amplification.

Well, it's just for fun. Some amp companies have a waiting list of 5 years, if you can believe it.

Regardless of what you think of the amps, no one can deny that HAD is an enigma. We don't really know much about him, except, that we'll never see another one like him.

I remember when Pink Floyd was very mysterious. Today, there are numerous videos with interviews. With HAD, there is nothing. He is the last celebrity that is not exposed and overexposed ... which makes him not a celebrity. Outside of TGP, not many people know who he is.

He has had great influence within the music industry and amp industry. His ideas get ripped off daily and he does not ask for a penny or even care. An interesting character, for sure.

Jim Kelleys are getting very expensive now. Fortunately, the money is going to Jim and not a seller on the used market

Austen Hooks has a pretty unique design and a fairly elite following. But I have to say, I am not sure anyone will ever have the same impact as Dumble.

It's hard to predict how the market will treat the amps some years on, but there are a few out there that check a lot of boxes that might support a comparison (i.e., making amps that extend or depart from traditional amp circuits, use of said amps by in-demand guitarists, perception of said amps as capable of producing unique/extraordinary sounds, relatively small production numbers, relatively small company headcount).

I'm sure I'll accidentally leave some out or remember some later, but Alessandro, Benson, Homestead, Komet, Metropoulos, Oldfield, Fat Jimmy, and Jim Kelley come to mind as potential candidates among currently-active builders, though query whether some of these makers have already produced too many amps to render them rare/mysterious.

I also suspect that with guitarists having so many options today between vintage, modern, emulated, and replicated amps, that it's harder to tie a guitarist or specific family of sounds to a particular amp.

    I concur.

Jimmy Page shows up with a Danelectro on the cover of a magazine?
Danelectro becomes an "A" brand overnight.

Jack White shows up with whatever piece of plastic he is playing?
    Those become sought-after guitars.

SRV or John Mayer show up with a beaten up pedal no one cares about?
    Those circuits become THE standard.

I hope people don't buy boutique amps because of the resale value.
I don''t even know why people buy boutique amps at all.

Do people really bring those 5000$ heads around? Because they'll get scratched.

It's like bringing your 5000$ audiophile stereo to a DJ gig...
