Was good and entertaining, but I found it a bit frustrating as I wanted to hear more (SOMETHING?) about the use of the Fractals...but were not even mentioned. Curious about blending the old rack with the new stuff - etc. Ah well. Still a cool hour.

Seriously, I was expecting a 3-part series. I guess they shortened it by leaving out the Fractal stuff.

Pretty disappointing rig rundown. They hardly looked at the rig at all. :huh

I certainly enjoyed that and Dallas is carrying a whole lot of water for sure ... 48 guitars - 5 amps - and the rack.

Like some I wouldn't have minded more exploration of the effects - the Axefx were prominent in pics and obviously play some role but not really discussed. I do wonder if there was at the Edge's request a certain amount left behind the curtain - the switcher itself seemed relatively conventional in design - presets but the ability to drop in individual effects if he wants. But what they all are remains a mystery to some extent - or at least what some is used for...

And as best I can tell not a single Klon in the rig :p

I saw in another video...EVERY guitar has to have the strings changed every night. And any song played during soundcheck? Strings changed immediately after. 30 something guitars. Might even be more now.

I'd need $1M/yr to have to do that.

I read in an interview where Dallas said he has a small spare board for such a case, if the entire rig went out.

But he said Bono would probably just tell the crowd more stories while they made him fix it.

Nice playing and singing. String hopping is not easy, I've been playing many years and still screw up. Does he sing solo with U2?

That vid was some feel good stuff. Thanks.

BTW - on the string change thing. Garcia would change strings at the beginning of a show and during the intermission. Nothing sounds like new strings which is why Clapton never changes them.

Uh oh, just got to 45:00. Is it true that the original Herdim picks are no more?

I believe they tweaked the design a while back so that the dimples don't go all the way to the edge of the pick. Since Edge plays with the fat end on the strings, those dimples catching the string is part of his sound.

Yep, I read about the way The Edge's uses his Herdims years ago and still use them that way a lot. I have maybe 5 left that aren't completely worn down. I'm a little worried that I won't be able to get new ones that work the same. Maybe one can get the dimples to the edge of the new ones by sanding down the perimeter?

The funny thing is, in sports arenas, big video, loud, everyone watching Bono Presley, etc.....he'd be 90% there with 3 boss pedals.

I don't think he would. The Korg delays have the boost in them and it makes a difference. Also, the fidelity of the ears in would drive him nuts if he didn't have his sound, I think.

I think Dallas has a thing for Edge, he seemed really excited about his attention to detail. Very cool that after years of doing that job that he’s still so excited about his job, no matter how tough it is.

Wonder what they do with all the used strings?
