    Hi,

I have two quads. Both date matched per quad - '70 and '72. Pre-Rola cones. Mint condition - have stickers and green (not black) magnet covers. One of the '72s has one broken tab.

Any idea on price? No plans on selling, but seeing what others are asking for theirs makes me think I had under-valued these sets in my mind.

One of these sets was on TGP for a few days (long time ago) at a price I thought was pretty low, so :dunno

TGP doesn't really go for vintage that much so the market is low here.

With no cab I'd say $800 for a quad.

If you know somebody selling a date-matched quad of mint pre-rola's for $800, I'll buy them.

Yes the matched dates help but I got one speaker at $100 and got outbid on a matched date one going for under $200 . Collecting is nice. But if you can get singles cheap, then there isn't a big market for a quad.

Even you said you noticed the forum selling low.

I wasn't trying to be combative, I really would buy them.

If you know somebody selling a mint one for $200, I'll buy that too.

I would think you could expect at least $1200 on eBay from what I've seen. I bought a bunch of these speakers, usually as singles, over the past 5 or 6 years. They are much less common on eBay these days it seems. I would set a pretty high reserve and start the bidding low

I'd imagine the '72s would fetch less than the '70s?

The broken tab will reduce their value a bit but I think the condition and the Pulsonic cones are more important than the specific year of manufacture. Jim at Scumback is the ultimate authority on these old Celestions. I suggest you get in touch with him.

Thanks Jim - I didn't want to bother you :) I asked you about speakers before, but I'll send some pics once the speakers arrive from the West Coast (moving).
